Getting Ready to Celebrate!

Preparations are underway for our 25th anniversary fiesta next month! This month, we’ve been working hard in Naranjito to get the area ready for the celebration. We’ve been painting and making repairs, and we poured cement sidewalks to make the area more accessible and easier to walk through. Our logistics team has also been hard at work planning out every detail of the event to make it fun and truly meaningful!

If you are able to come down, we would love to have you! All the information you need is here: https://faithministry.org/25-fiesta. Just remember to RSVP to colleen@faithministry.org.

We need your help making this celebration a success, so we ask that you would prayerfully consider supporting the fiesta through a donation. You can give online at the link above (scroll to the bottom of the page) or at https://faithministry.org/give. You can also send a check payable to Faith Ministry, PO Box 756, McAllen, TX 78505 (make sure to note that it is for the 25th anniversary fiesta).

Thank you so much! We could not do what we do without friends like you.

Pastor’s Day

This month was Día del Pastor, or Pastor’s Day, in Mexico, and the two churches in Reynosa and Naranjito joined up to put together a beautiful service to honor Pastor Carlos. David preached a sermon on Joshua 24:15, sharing about the responsibility we have as Christians to follow God and to support the leaders of the church. The children, youth, and women of the church all participated in songs and skits, and they ended with cake (of course ?). What a special day!

A Special Visit

It’s always great to have friends in town, and this month it was an honor for us to host Dr. James Howell, the senior pastor at Myers Park United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC, and show him the work we’re doing here on the border. We visited the clinic and Naranjito and ended with a delicious meal at the complex. Plus, we think David has met his selfie match! ?

Prayer Requests

We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:

  • Betty, as she continues to deal with her mom’s health issues, as well as other family concerns. Pray for discernment and peace for her and her family.
  • One of our former volunteers in Reynosa, Rosa, who was hospitalized last week after a minor bus accident. Pray for her health and healing as she continues to recover.
  • Our 25th anniversary fiesta next month! Pray that we are able to bring glory to God and celebrate all He has done on the border since 1994.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
Romans 12:12

25 Years in Photos & Videos

To celebrate our 25th anniversary, we’ll be sharing “throwback” photos and videos throughout the year. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for more!

If you came to volunteer with us in 1998, you sang “Unidos, Unidos.” If you came last month, you sang “Unidos, Unidos.” The song is a Faith Ministry favorite because it reminds us, as we are hand in hand, that we are stronger when we are working together. Together, we can serve others, and together, we can love others.

Want to sing along at home? Here are the full lyrics to “Unidos, Unidos” (Spanish & English).

On the Blog

We’ve been so lucky to have Luke work with us for two summers as an intern, and he wrote a beautiful reflection of his seven weeks here this summer, including lessons he learned and how he wants to apply those to his life in Dallas.
