Celebrating 29 Years
This month, we celebrated 29 years of serving families in need on the border here in Mexico! On October 1, 1994, our founder Deantin Guerra started Faith Ministry with the mission and vision of making a difference for families living on the border, and now in 2023, we are still going, still making a difference, one family at a time.
The work we do day in and day out is made possible by our amazing staff; we may be biased, but we truly think we have the best team out there!
There is so much more ahead for Faith Ministry, but we need your help to keep doing it. For our birthday, consider a gift to the ministry and help us keep going for many more years to come! Donate here.
Groups Galore
October is one of our busiest months for mission work groups, and this year was no exception! We hosted several groups from churches in Texas, North Carolina, and Alabama, building a total of five houses. Every group also had the meaningful experience of helping with the children’s nutrition programs and delivering grocery packages door-to-door, meeting and connecting with families in the community. It was a wonderful month with our teams!
Our 2024 calendar is already starting to fill up! If you’re interested in bringing a group next year, check out our schedule for availability and get in touch with Colleen at colleen@faithministry.org.
Visiting Indianapolis
David had a great trip this month to Indianapolis! He shared with our friends at Trinity Lutheran Church at their Saturday evening and Sunday morning services and participated in their Hispanic Heritage Month celebration Sunday afternoon. He was even interviewed by the local Hispanic radio station! And of course, he had a lot of quality time with Indy friends, new and old. Thanks so much to all who made this trip possible!
Fun for Kids in Miguel Alemán
Our spiritual growth program in Miguel Alemán extends to an outreach in a rural community called Guardados de Arriba, where we serve every Saturday. This month, in addition to their weekly meals and Bible lessons, we did a fun contest for kids and families, where they learned two hymns, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Ten Commandments, and the winners received bikes, grocery packages, and meal vouchers! Our programs in Miguel Alemán are run by our very small staff there, plus volunteers from the community, and your support helps to make it all possible. ❤️
Prayer Requests
We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:
- PRAISE! Colleen had an emergency appendectomy this month, but thankfully, she is recovering well. Continued prayers for good health are appreciated.
- Benito, who leads our spiritual growth program in Miguel Alemán, is dealing with issues alongside his family. Pray for him, his wife, and his children as they go through some difficult times.
- Omar, who continues to battle a wide variety of health issues. He remains in Monterrey, and we ask for your continued prayers for his health, wellbeing, and recovery, as well as for his comfort and peace.
- The health of our staff, volunteers, Board of Directors, and friends around the world
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

Current Need
We are only about six weeks away from our Christmas fiestas! We are hoping to be able to bless more than 1,000 people through our fiestas this year, and you can help!
Donate – Go to faithministry.org/give and on the form, select “Christmas Fiestas” under “Use My Donation For.”
Send soccer balls & other new toys – You can send new soccer balls and/or other new toys to our street address at 4200 N McColl Rd, Bldg 200, Ste 203, McAllen, TX 78504. If you’re ordering online and having them shipped to us, please add your name to the shipping address (ex: “ATTN: Joe Smith”). It helps us to know who the packages are coming from. Please make sure they arrive by Wednesday, November 29 – this allows us enough time to cross everything to Mexico before the fiestas.
Come to Mexico and participate – Help us serve meals, distribute toys and grocery packages, coordinate activities, and more. The fiestas this year will be December 13 – 15, 2023. You can come anytime during those days – just coordinate with Colleen, and we’ll arrange your stay here!
Thank You!
