Once again, you guys rose to the occasion and provided the money to meet the matching challenges of two sponsors, and now FOUR families are getting houses for the price of two! And that’s just some of what is going on this fall. Here’s an update:
Clockwise from top left, the families who are receiving the four “challenge” houses:
- Jose and Bartola have two grandchildren for whom they care, Michelle (age 5) and Bryan (age 4). They’re in Reynosa.
- Jose and Maria have two children, Anahi (age 15) and Cecilia (age 10). They’re in Reynosa as well.
- Fidel and Roxana have three children, Juan (age 22), Sandra (age 18) and Victor (age 10). They’re in Miguel Alemán.
- Ricardo and Olga have three children, Olga (age 17), Ana (age 16) and Alondra (age 13). They’re in Miguel Alemán.
Construction
Seven churches are sending teams in October and November to build nine houses. This will get us close to our goal for the year. And already, we’re hearing of teams planning to return next year, some of whom haven’t been able to work for the last three years. This is a very encouraging sign.
Puppet Shows
Old Bethel recently visited with a puppeteer team. They performed at our three churches and at some other local ministries. The children were absolutely delighted. It just goes to show that your team can bring more than strong backs for building houses! Come enjoy the community and work!
20th Anniversary
Plans are being made for next year’s 20th anniversary celebration. We’ll be collecting your stories and photos, and we’re planning fiestas and celebrations of what God has done through Faith Ministry. We’ll keep you posted as plans are made.
Meals of Hope
Our good friend Tom from Florida connected us with Meals of Hope and arranged to have rice and vitamin packets shipped in to provide meals for … get this … 94,000 people. We’ll be using them as the core of food packages in the colonias where families are hungry. Now, with houses, medications and education help, we do more to help the hungry.
500 Likes on Facebook
Any time now we’ll reach a milestone on Facebook – 500 likes. That’s a lot of people working together to share God’s love in tangible ways among his children along the border.
We’ll be turning our attention to Christmas activities shortly. We’re planning to visit families with food and presents and to host fiestas in our churches. If your church would like to support these projects, please let David Rodriguez know at (956) 631-3567.
We give thanks for all you do. God has richly blessed us all!
