Start of Summer!
This month, we kicked off our 10-week summer construction season by building Casa #12, hosting a team from North Carolina and Illinois, and welcoming two interns who will be spending their summer with us. By summer’s end, we will have built through Casa #27, hosted a total of 16 teams, and welcomed a total of eight interns. This is the busiest summer we’ve had in years, and we are SO excited. Keep all of our teams, interns, and local volunteers and staff in your prayers as they work hard in the heat over the next couple months.
If this sounds like fun to you, and you are interested in bringing a team to Mexico, you can find more information and book a week for your team for 2020 here. We would love to work with you!
Youth Conference in Monterrey
Earlier this month, the youth from our churches in Reynosa, Naranjito, and Miguel Alemán were able to attend a youth conference at Instituto Bíblico Berea in Monterrey, and it was an incredible experience! They participated in fellowship activities, games, and sports, attended sermons and prayer services, and had the chance to visit local sights around the city.
From Daniel, a youth member from Naranjito: “It was an incredible experience because we fellowshipped with other churches, with people we did not know, and we had learned more about God.”
This trip was made possible in part by donations to Faith Ministry, and the youth would not have been able to go without the financial support. Thank you to all who donate and make the work we do possible! Get involved today and donate to help us change lives through events like this. Your donation truly makes a difference!
Getting Ready for Next School Year
This month, we took our scholarship students’ photos in Reynosa and Miguel Alemán, and they wrote their end-of-year letters to their sponsors. It’s always great to see our students and hear how they’re doing school, especially as some of them prepare to graduate high school or college. We are so proud of them!
If you are a current sponsor, remember to send in funds for your student(s) by June 14!
If you are not a sponsor, but you would like to be, email Colleen. We have multiple students who are in urgent need of a sponsor for next school year, and we would love to pair you up with one or more of them.
Prayer Requests
We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:
- The family of a gentleman we built a house for in Reynosa in November named Hilario; Hilario passed away this month, so we ask for prayers for his family and loved ones.
- Benito, our pastor in Miguel Alemán, who suffered a stroke at the end of last year, continues to do better each day! He still needs physical and speech therapy, but he is on the right path and continues to improve. Pray that his recovery continues going smoothly.
- The families in Mexico as we enter some of the hottest months of the year. Many families in our communities live without air conditioning, conventional showers, or even fans, so summer months are especially brutal. Keep their health and wellbeing in your prayers this summer.
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

25 Years in Photos
To celebrate our 25th anniversary, we’ll be sharing “throwback” photos throughout the year. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for more!
This month, we cleared out old files in our McAllen office and came across some really special memories from the beginning of Faith Ministry. This one here is a newsletter Deantin wrote when the ministry was celebrating its six-month anniversary. To be still serving here on the border with the same mission and vision 24 and a half years later is truly an honor and a privilege, and we know it’s a blessing to the families in our community.
Anyone out there remember the very early days? Share your favorite memories with us!
