The Board of Directors with the staff in Reynosa

A Visit from the Board

Our Board of Directors, a group of 12 awesome people who advise and guide our ministry and staff, came to McAllen and Reynosa this month! They spent a morning working in the garden in Naranjito and envisioning with us our plans for that area, and they met with our Reynosa staff and enjoyed a delicious meal together. While they were here, we also inaugurated our newly renovated pastoral house for Pastor Carlos. We are thankful for their advice and direction year-round, and we love spending time with them here in Mexico!

Five Teams and Many Blessings

This month, we had five teams come and work with us from Austin, Houston, Indianapolis, Raleigh and Charlotte! One of these teams was a group of medical students and a physician from UT Houston’s medical school, here for the first time, and we could not be more grateful for their help. They saw patients, shadowed Dr. Joaquin, organized our pharmacy and brought a ton of joy to our medical clinic! Another one of the teams from Raleigh not only built a house, but also brought along a dentist and two hygienists to clean and extract teeth – what a blessing!

Whatever your skills or talents are, come to Mexico and work with us! We still have slots open for 2017; if you or someone you know is interested in bringing a team to Mexico, let us know! Check out our mission work group schedule to find a week that works for your team, and email Colleen for more information or to reserve a week!

If you are a college student or recent grad who would like to spend part or all of your summer in Reynosa, check out our summer intern program and email Colleen with any questions!

An Ever-Expanding Garden

We are so proud of the progress we have been making in our garden in Naranjito. Teams have had the opportunity to work there and help us make it a beautiful place. Under the supervision of Jose, for our spring season, we planted corn, tomatoes, carrots, radishes, squash, watermelon, cucumbers and peppers. And late this month, we were able to harvest our first crop of beautiful, juicy tomatoes! This fresh produce throughout the season will be sent to the clinic for Oralia to use in our children’s nutrition program. We are excited to see what else we are able to do this year in Naranjito!

Prayer Requests

We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:

  • David and his family; David’s dad, David, Sr., passed away this month. Pray for peace and comfort for his family during this difficult time.
  • Deantin, who is currently in the hospital with health issues. Pray for healing and for wisdom for the medical professionals, as well as comfort for his family.
  • Julio, or Chuky, who has been dealing with severe headaches and dizziness. Pray for healing, peace and rest for him.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
