Mission Work Groups in Reynosa

We had teams visit us this month from Austin, Texas; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Raleigh, North Carolina! Among all the teams there was a great mix of kids, youth and adults with plenty of different talents to serve the families here in Mexico. All together, they built three houses for three loving families; poured three roofs; blessed the kids in our community with breakfast, crafts, and games; and shared and showed the love of Christ to everyone around them!

We still have spots for mission work groups available for 2016, so if you are interested in bringing a team down to Mexico, get in touch! Check out our mission work group schedule to find a week that works for your team, and email Colleen for more information or to reserve your team’s week!

Board of Directors’ Visit

We have a fantastic Board of Directors who comes to visit us twice a year, and not only do they come down to visit, but they also come down to work! We put them to work earlier this month pouring the roof of our storage space at our new community center in Miguel Alemán – a roof that was 3 times the size of a house! They did an excellent job, and it was wonderful to see this dream of ours, the new community center, come to life.

While they were here, we also dedicated our new office space in Reynosa, as well as three “new” vehicles: a new van for the volunteers in Reynosa, a new pickup truck for Omar, and a pickup truck for Carlos! It was another reminder of the ways in which God has blessed us and given us more opportunities to serve our community here in Mexico.

Blessings from Monterrey

Two students from the Berea Bible Institute in Monterrey have been coming up every weekend to help us out with church activities on the border. Francisco (right) has been helping Carlos out in Reynosa and Naranjito, and Javier has been visiting Miguel Alemán to serve there with our pastor Benito. These two guys have been a huge blessing to us, and we’re grateful to have them!

Prayer Requests

We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:

  • Ezequiel, who has surgery scheduled for today on his eye. We are praying that God’s healing hands would be over him and his doctors today and throughout his recovery.
  • Beto (known to some as Alberto and others as Gilberto), who has been dealing with stomach health issues and will likely need surgery soon. We are praying for healing and peace over Beto.
  • Brayan, a two-year-old boy whose family we built a house for this month and who suffers from “butterfly skin,” a disease that causes his skin to blister easily. He will be heading to Monterrey, and then hopefully Austin, soon for treatment. We are praying for God’s healing power over Brayan and patience for him and his family.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
Romans 12:12
