March News

We’ve already built a couple of houses in Reynosa this year, and in just a few weeks, we’ll again be hosting house-building teams in Miguel Alemán. There is much work to be done this year, and we’re excited! Here’s what’s going on:

Repairs

We’ve been making some repairs to the church/dorm facility in Reynosa. First, we fixed the roof, and now we’re painting and sprucing up the kitchen and sleeping rooms. We’ve also been painting in Miguel Alemán in anticipation of work there beginning at Easter. We want our teams to find clean, comfortable accommodations. In Reynosa, we need two refrigerators ($600 each), two stoves ($500 each), two microwaves ($80 each), and six coffee pots ($20 each). If you’re able to help, please contact David Rodriguez (david@faithministry.org or (956) 631-3567).

Work Progress

Teams in 2013 have completed houses number one and two in Reynosa. They also held Vacation Bible School for children. Ladies took part in sewing classes and pottery training. In Miguel Alemán, where we’ve been unable to host teams for three years, five families are at work, doing their part to get homes of their own when work teams from the U.S. return, beginning at Easter.

If you would like to bring a team, either to Reynosa or Miguel Alemán, it’s not too late to get on the schedule. We’re hoping to build 36 houses this year, two more than in 2012.

Board Meeting

Faith Ministry’s new Board of Directors started work in January and met in Texas in February. Board members use their expertise to help the ministry in such areas as fundraising, promotion, administration, medicine and prayer. They also rolled up their sleeves and spent a day pouring a floor for a house in Reynosa and got to spend some time with staff and volunteers for a meal and worship.

Facebook Milestone

Faith Ministry passed the mark of 400 likes on Facebook recently! That tells us many people love the work of Faith Ministry along the border. We hope everyone will consider monthly giving, even if it’s a small amount, so that we can continue not just house building, but also our work at the Betty Clinic, taking care of patients and feeding children each day. Hundreds of people providing a little monthly support can make a huge difference! Now you can securely and easily set up a monthly credit card payment of as little as $5. Just go here: https://www.faithministry.org/give-monthly.

Coming Up

We hope to soon be operating a program to feed children before school in Miguel Alemán as we do in Reynosa. We’d also like to find some medical teams to visit the Reynosa Betty Clinic this year. If you know of dentists, optometrists or family practitioners who could spend a few days at the clinic, we could help many families. Contact David Rodriguez at david@faithministry.org or (956) 631-3567.

Thanks for all the work you do, for your prayers and for being a part of the Faith Ministry team!
