A team and a family after pouring a new roof on their house

That Busy Time of Year!

This month, we had three teams here in Reynosa, building houses and blessing families. Each team brought with them people from lots of different places, so we had friends from Alabama, New York, Texas, Louisiana, Arizona and Virginia here with us this month. It’s always exciting having teams here!

If you would like to bring a team down to Mexico, we still have weeks available in the fall of 2017 and are already scheduling teams for 2018! Check out our mission work group schedule to find a week that works for your team, and email Colleen for more information or to reserve a week!

Summer Interns

This summer, we will have a total of five interns in Reynosa, the most we have had since 2009! This month, we had three wonderful young people with us, working hard alongside the groups and helping out wherever needed. Will, from Austin, TX, proved himself on the job site, wielding a pickaxe skillfully on the many foundations we dug; he also volunteered in the medical clinic with Dr. Joaquin and Nurse Betty and got along great with all of our staff and volunteers. Abbie, from Raleigh, NC, was a joy to have around, bringing plenty of laughter to any moment; she helped us out taking pictures on the job site and was a wonderful addition to our team. Emily, from Indianapolis, IN, will be here through mid-July, and she has been a blessing to have around; she will also be using her skills in writing to help us out with stories for our website. We are so grateful for each of these interns and all the hard work they put in this month!

A Visit from Deantin

As most of you know, Faith Ministry’s founder Deantin Guerra has been in and out of the hospital frequently this year, battling several health issues. We were so blessed and honored to have him visit Reynosa this month for the first time since January! His daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter were in Reynosa with their church, and Deantin was able to be here for the dedication of the house they built, even leading us all in a few songs. Please continue praying for Deantin’s health and for his wife and caretaker Lidia – we hope he is able to come back to see us again soon!

Prayer Requests

We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:

  • Beto, one of our long-term construction volunteers, who is preparing to undergo surgery soon. Please pray for him as he gets ready, as well as for his doctor and medical team.
  • Ezequiel, one of our former construction foremen and longest employees, who is currently dealing with a multitude of health issues. Pray for his healing and comfort.
  • The hot summer temperatures have arrived in Mexico (one day this month reached 109F), which can be tough for the families living here on the border. Pray for the safety of our community in the heat, especially children and the elderly.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
