Mission Groups Hard at Work
Summer is always a busy time of year for us, and we love it! This month, the teams that have come down to work with us have brought people from all over: Alabama, Indiana, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Louisiana, Virginia, and even Scotland! Among the block laying and cement mixing, each of the individuals that volunteered with us made a difference here by sharing and showing the love and joy of Christ.
Our 2017 schedule is already filling up! If you are interested in bringing a team down to Mexico, get in touch! Check out our mission work group schedule to find a week that works for your team, and email Colleen for more information or to reserve your team’s week!
A Special Opportunity to Give
Our goal this year is to build 40 homes for 40 families here in Mexico, and we need your help! 25 of those houses are funded by groups that come to work with us, but we are asking you to help us fund the rest. Any donation, large or small, will help, or be bold and fund an entire house! You can even start a crowdfunding campaign and get your friends and family involved – it’s a great opportunity to not only provide a home for a family in need, but also an excellent way to share about a cause that’s important to you. Donate online today and learn more about what you can do to help!
Summer Interns in Reynosa
We were blessed with two awesome summer interns this month! Gracie, or “Graciela,” who spent last summer volunteering with us and will be a junior at University of Texas in Austin next year, is back in Reynosa; she has been helping out with mission work groups, reading and doing crafts with the kids in the clinic, teaching English to our volunteers, and helping out in any way possible. Taylor, who will be entering his second year of medical school at the University of South Carolina, worked every day in the clinic with Dr. Joaquin and nurse Betty; he learned medical skills (and Spanish!), while also teaching Joaquin some English. Both Gracie and Taylor have been huge blessings to the ministry this summer!
Prayer Requests
We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:
- Maricela, whose mother passed away this month after a long battle with cancer. Pray for peace and comfort for her and her family as they grieve this loss.
- Ezequiel, one of our foremen in Reynosa, who is back at work after his recent eye surgery. Continue praying for his healing and overall health, as he will soon need to have an operation on his other eye.
- Benigno, or Benny, one of our foremen in Miguel Alemán, whose wife is in the hospital right now with health complications. Pray for wisdom, peace and patience for her, for him and for their family.
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
