Building Houses and Sharing Joy
Our summer season kept going strong this month with six teams visiting us from North Carolina, Alabama, and South Carolina; all of these teams were made up of some, if not mostly, youth, and we loved it! The love, joy, and energy that everyone, especially youth, bring to our area makes us so happy, and we were thrilled to work with so many people this month, young and old. The teams built a total of ten houses, poured eight roofs, worked on the Deantin community center and in the garden in Naranjito, hosted VBS, and more! It was a whirlwind month of activities, full of blessings for many families. Gloria a Dios!
If you’re interested in bringing a team to Mexico, you can find more information and book a week for your team for 2020 on our website. We would love to work with you!
This month, we had all seven of our summer interns here, and wow, what a help they have been! These young men and women from North Carolina, Alabama, and Texas chose to spend four weeks, five weeks, or even up to all ten weeks here with us in Reynosa, serving the ministry by assisting with summer teams and helping out in other areas of the ministry. They have been a blessing to us in so many ways! As a way to show our gratitude for their hard work, we took them on a field trip this month to Monterrey, Mexico, the hometown of David, Omar, and Pastor Carlos. We had a blast showing them around the city and taking some time to relax in the midst of a busy summer!
A Visit from Friends from NC!
We love being in fellowship with new friends, and this month, we had the opportunity to do just that! We hosted 16 pastors from the North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church at David’s house; we enjoyed a delicious meal together and had the chance to share about Faith Ministry and what we are doing here on the border in Mexico. It was a fantastic night with our North Carolina amigos and amigas!
We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:
- The families in Mexico as they continue to experience the hot weather of the summer. Many families live without AC or traditional showers, so pray for their wellbeing and safety as we wrap up a hot month and move into an even hotter one!
- Our staff and local volunteers that have been working nonstop for the past ten weeks and have gone above and beyond to make this a successful summer. For them, pray for some time of rest and relaxation with their family as this summer wraps up.
- The mother of Betty, our nurse in Reynosa, who continues to deal with health problems. Pray for her healing and strength, as well as peace and comfort for Betty and her family.
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

Hola, Colleen here! ?? With all the youth teams who have come down to work with Faith Ministry this summer, I’ve been thinking about how much of an impact this ministry had on me when I myself came down here as a teenager. The relationships I formed and the experience I had with Faith Ministry shaped not only my own faith, but also how I saw the world and how I treated my neighbors, near and far. This month, I shared a personal #throwbackthursday pic of my second trip to Mexico when I was 17 years old, with my mom, who has known and loved this ministry even longer than I have.
If you came down to Mexico at a young age, whether in recent years or a while ago, how did it impact you as you grew older? Let us know!
