First Group, First House

This month, we hosted the first team of the year and built Casa #1 of 2019 in Reynosa! It was a great week reuniting with old friends, making new ones, and working alongside one another to build a home for a loving family. It is through those relationships and that fellowship when the love of God is shared and reflected in one another.

We have more teams coming to work with us in 2019 than we have had in 10 years, and we are so excited. We still have some weeks available, so if you are interested in bringing a team to volunteer with us this year, get in touch!

The Deantin Community Center

As we start this year with new goals and excitement, we also feel the absence of our brother and the founder of Faith Ministry, Deantin Guerra. Deantin had a determined vision of what he wanted to do through this ministry, and that vision encourages us to keep working day after day.

We wanted to do something big to not only honor Deantin’s life and love for our Mexican community, but also follow his vision. Our plan is to finish the unfinished cement slab in Naranjito to create a beautiful community center.

Deantin wanted to finish that building; it was always in his plans, but finances, violence and other disruptions always got in the way. We can’t think of a better way to honor his memory than by finally finishing that building and making it a place for community and fellowship.

We’ll be working on this community center throughout 2019, so stay tuned for updates!

Reflecting on 2018

For Faith Ministry, 2018 was a year of success, growth, blessings, and hardship. While we experienced devastating loss, we saw God’s faithfulness in action and witnessed the ministry continue to flourish and make a difference on the border. We thank each and every one of you for your support, encouragement, and prayers; you make what we do possible! Click to view, download or print our 2018 Annual Report.

Prayer Requests

We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:

  • Benito, our pastor in Miguel Alemán, who is still recovering from his stroke at the end of 2018. Pray for his strength and healing and for his family as they support him.
  • Luz, our construction supervisor in Miguel Alemán, who was in a car accident earlier this month; thankfully, he was physically okay, but his car was totaled. Pray for him as he proceeds through the next steps.
  • Our office in McAllen is in transition and is working hard to make sure the ministry continues to run smoothly. Pray for discretion, wisdom, and patience for the U.S. staff and for the Board of Directors.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

25 Years in Photos

To celebrate our 25th anniversary, we’ll be sharing “throwback” photos throughout the year. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for more!

This one was taken when our church and complex in Reynosa were under construction back in 1998. The entire area was built by visiting U.S teams alongside our local staff and volunteers!
