This year is shaping up to be a great one! Already we have 21 teams scheduled! Here’s an update on what we’re up to in January.

Cold Weather

Much of the U.S. is encountering cold weather, but we’re not used to it here. Temperatures have been in the 30s and 40s, and families in the colonies just aren’t prepared. As you know, there’s no central heat. Many try to cope by building fires inside the houses, which often brings disastrous results. Wooden homes burn, and people die of carbon monoxide poisoning. We’ve been distributing blankets, in addition to our usual work. We’re also giving away coats and warm clothing.

20th Anniversary

This year marks our 20th anniversary, and we’re going to celebrate with a special weekend in October, the date to be announced soon. We hope you can join us as we celebrate the work God has done through you and Faith Ministry and chart a continued course of service among families along the border.

Construction

We’ve already been visited by the first work team of 2014, and we have 20 others scheduled so far. We also have another 10 making plans. Three teams are scheduled for Miguel Alemán, the others in Reynosa. If your church or group would like to bring a team to build a house, contact David Rodriguez at (956) 631-3567.

Board Meets

The ministry’s Board of Directors will be arriving next week for its next meeting. The Board is trying to discern God’s direction for the ministry and will conduct its usual business of overseeing projects and making plans.

Finances

We ended the year in pretty good shape, thanks to our many team members and supporters. We’re still a little precarious as we rebuild construction visits, but there’s definitely sunshine on the horizon. Please consider a monthly gift, which can easily be drafted from a debit or credit card at faithministry.org/give.

Thank you for all you do for Faith Ministry and the families we serve and with whom we work. May God richly bless you and keep you this year.
