Houses, Puppets, and More!
This month, we hosted Old Bethel United Methodist from Indiana who built two houses in Reynosa for two wonderful families; they also poured two roofs and painted the two houses they built in 2022. They also spent time beautifying our grounds in Naranjito, delivered grocery packages, and did make-your-own-puppet activites with the kids in Reynosa and Naranjito. They also brought along an eye doctor who provided 240 people in our community with free eye exams and eye glasses. It was a wonderful week!
We still have several weeks available for the spring and summer of 2023, so if you are interested in bringing a group, check out our schedule and email Colleen for more information!
A Visit from the Board
This past weekend, we welcomed our Board of Directors to the border! Our Board of 12 individuals travels to the border twice a year to meet with the staff, see our programs and facilities, and plan for the future of Faith Ministry with directors David and Colleen. We had a great time with them and are so appreciative of the way they help to support and guide the ministry!
Traveling to Houston and Dallas
David and Colleen continued their Texas tour this month visiting Memorial Drive Presbyterian in Houston and Highland Park United Methodist in Dallas. They had a chance to speak with staff and members at both churches, share what God is doing on the border through the ministry, and explore possibilities to deepen our partnerships with both churches.
We are always so grateful for the opportunity to travel and talk about Faith Ministry. If you’d like us to visit your community or church, get in touch! We would love to come see you.
New Partnership in Mexico
This month, we were thrilled to partner with Manos Juntas, an organization here on the border in Mexico, to bring medical services to our clinic in Reynosa through one of their volunteer medical teams from Trinity United Methodist Church in Columbus, OH. As you may remember, our staff doctor retired over the summer, and while we search for a new one, it is an amazing opportunity for us to partner with organizations like this!
Winter to Summer in One Month
We started this month with temperatures in the low 40s along the border, and we are ending the month with temperatures in the mid 90s. Looks like our “winter” is over!
Back in the beginning of February when it was quite cold, our partners at First United Methodist in McAllen came for their monthly visit and focused especially this time on delivering blankets, hats, and grocery packages to their brothers and sisters in Reynosa. They also hung out with the kids in the nutrition program and shared a meal and devotion service with our staff and volunteers.
Prayer Requests
We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:
- Praise! Luz, our construction supervisor in Miguel Alemán, has finished treatment for his difficult diagnosis, and it was a success! Thank you for your prayers, and we ask you to continue to pray for his health and strength as he returns to work.
- Omar, who is still dealing with a wide variety of health issues stemming from his fall and subsequent knee surgery last year, as well as a foot infection and subsequent surgery in December. He is still in Monterrey with his family, and we ask for your continued prayers for his health, wellbeing, and recovery, as well as for his comfort and peace.
- The health of our staff, volunteers, Board of Directors, and friends around the world
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
