A team and a family in front of a completed house in Reynosa

A Special Time with Family

This month, Colleen’s mom, sister, extended family and dear friends from across the country came down to Reynosa to build a very special house in honor of her dad, Matt Cook, who passed away in February of last year. In just three days of work, they built this beautiful home in Matt’s memory and also poured a roof, helped with the children’s nutrition program and worked in the garden in Naranjito. It was a short time together, but it was filled to the brim with love, joy and memories.

House Building & Beautification

This month, we also hosted a team from Indianapolis, IN, who built a house for a loving family and also worked on making major improvements to our “campus” in Naranjito! Together with the youth and kids from the church, they planted shade and citrus trees and beautiful flowers, weeded, and prepared our future basketball/volleyball court. It was a wonderful time of work and fellowship! They also continued their yearly tradition of painting the house they built the previous year, and this year, it was painted bright blue on the outside and turquoise on the inside.

We have spots open for 2018, so if you or someone you know is interested in leading or coming on a trip to Mexico, get in touch! You can check out our mission work group schedule and find a week that works for your team. Email Colleen for more information!

Nourishment for the Body and Soul

For over a year, our church in Miguel Alemán has been serving at a mission in an area called Guardados de Arriba, where many people cannot make it to church. One activity there is a Saturday morning breakfast and Bible program, where around 25 kids come for a hearty meal. They also learn stories and lessons from the Bible, sing songs and play games!

Prayer Requests

We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:

  • Dora, our caretaker in Reynosa, who fractured her wrist after a fall earlier this month. She is at home recovering (and bored to tears!), so pray for her healing and peace.
  • Luz, our foreman in Miguel Alemán, who is currently being checked by his eye doctor and could possibly need eye surgery. Pray for the health of his eyes and for comfort for him, should surgery be necessary.
  • Benito, our pastor in Miguel Alemán, who needs prayers for him and his family.
  • Deantin, our founder, who continues to deal with health problems. Pray for his healing and for comfort and peace for him and his wife Lidia.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
Romans 12:12
