Great news from the border! Long-time team member and intern Colleen Cook has joined the staff. We’re writing to tell you a little about her and update you on the work of the ministry.

Colleen Joins Us

New staff member Colleen CookIf you’ve served on a Faith Ministry house-building team a few times, chances are you know Colleen Cook. She has been a part of Faith Ministry as a volunteer since her first work group experience in 2006 as a high school junior in Grace Community Church from Raleigh. She also worked with us as an intern during her summer break while pursuing undergraduate degrees in Journalism and Global Studies and minoring in Spanish at UNC-Chapel Hill. Colleen will be helping us coordinate teams, with communications, and improvement of such growing programs as our scholarships and feeding of children. She hit the ground running, arriving on February 6 after a three-day drive from New York City where she’s worked for the past two and a half years in the advertising industry as a Flash and front-end web developer. Colleen has a strong passion for serving God among the families in Reynosa and Miguel Alemán. Her other favorite things are photography, good food, sweet tea (a true southern girl!), web coding, friends and family, and everything about Mexico. Keep her in your prayers and give her a big welcome hug when you see her!

Construction

We’ve begun 2015 strong with three houses built in Reynosa and one in Miguel Alemán. We have quite a few teams scheduled for the year, but it’s not too late if you want to visit this year and build a house with a family. Just contact our director David Rodriguez at (956) 631-3567.

Board Meets

The Faith Ministry Board of Directors and staff will be working this year to improve our children’s educational sponsorship program and our nutrition program. The Board, meeting recently in McAllen, also decided to begin looking into a vocational program.

Remember as we approach our busy construction season that you can keep updated with the teams’ progress on our Facebook page. Like us here!

Thank you for all the ways you help Faith Ministry’s work and the families along the border. Together, we’re making a difference, one family at a time!
