As always, we ended the year with our annual Christmas fiestas! And this year, we had a record-breaking number of volunteers from across the U.S. come to participate – over 35 total!
These fiestas are so important to us as a means to spread the joy of the season to the families in the community, help to relieve the burden parents feel during this time, and focus on the true reason for Christmas. Through fiestas in Reynosa, Miguel Alemán, and Naranjito, as well as delivering grocery packages and toys door-to-door, we were able to serve over 1,000 adults and kids this year.
Thank you to all of you who made our Christmas fiestas possible this year through your generosity, support, and participation. You made a difference this Christmas!
As we have been sharing throughout the year, there is so much still to be done along the border in Mexico. So many families needing a solid roof over their heads, kids who need a hearty meal before school, youth who need help to finish their education, parents who are struggling to make ends meet and who need hope in their lives.
We are preparing to enter our 30th year of service here on the border, and with the overwhelming amount of need in Mexico, we have to focus on the heart of Faith Ministry — to make a difference, one at a time.
This year, we have faced many challenges, a major one being the way that the dollar/peso exchange rate drastically impacted our budget. Yet, we know that God will continue to be faithful to the ministry, and with that, and your support, we can keep making a difference to one family at a time.
To donate online for 2023, visit faithministry.org/give by December 31 at 11pm EST / 10pm CST.
To donate via snail mail, send a check payable to Faith Ministry to PO Box 756, McAllen, TX 78505; it must be postmarked on or before December 31 to be considered as 2023 giving.
Thank you for the ways that you have supported Faith Ministry throughout this year. Your donations, your prayers, and your presence truly mean the world to us. You have provided hope for families in Mexico, and you have made a difference.
Last Houses of the Year
This month, we wrapped up our house construction program for the year, finishing up Casa #29 and Casa #30 in Reynosa, provided by our friends at Myers Park UMC in Charlotte, NC, and Zionsville Presbyterian in Indianapolis, IN.
This means that THIRTY families along the border in Mexico received homes this year, and we are aiming to build the same (or hopefully more!) in 2024. If you or your church are interested in funding a house and/or coming to build it, get in touch with us!
We cannot say thank you enough for your support and friendship throughout 2023. You help to make the work we do every day possible, and we are deeply grateful for that.
On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors of Faith Ministry, we hope you and your loved ones had a Merry Christmas and are wishing you a Happy New Year!
We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:
- All of the families throughout our communities during the holidays, with the challenges, complications, and struggles that the season can bring. Pray that they might have joy and hope in their home as we enter a new year.
- Omar, who continues to battle a wide variety of health issues. He remains in Monterrey, and we ask for your continued prayers for his health, wellbeing, and recovery, as well as for his comfort and peace.
- The health of our staff, volunteers, Board of Directors, and friends around the world
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
