Christmas Fiestas

This month, we hosted our annual Christmas fiestas! These celebrations are so important to us as a way to spread the joy of the season to the families in the community, help to relieve the burden parents feel during this time, and focus on the true reason for Christmas. We had fiestas this year at our children’s nutrition program in Reynosa, a big carnival-style celebration in Naranjito for the community and the families we built homes for this year, a children’s fiesta in Miguel Alemán, a fiesta for our staff, and fiestas at both of our churches in Reynosa and Miguel Alemán.

In total, we served over 1,000 families during our fiestas, whether that was by attending or receiving door-to-door grocery package and toy deliveries. And that was all thanks to those of you who supported the fiestas through your donations and participation – we couldn’t have done it with you!

David’s 20th Anniversary

As a complete surprise to him, we also celebrated our executive director David Rodriguez’s 20th anniversary with Faith Ministry this month! Dozens of people were here to surprise him for this special celebration and to honor the two decades of work and service that David and his family have poured into Faith Ministry. Thank you, David, for all that you do!

New Van + Donations

Yet another thing to celebrate this month – a new 15-passenger van for Faith Ministry! Our friends at Myers Park UMC in Charlotte were generous enough to not only gift us with a new van, but they also partnered up with others in Charlotte, like Covenant Presbyterian, to pack the van with all sorts of necessary items for families in Mexico. The donations included dozens of blankets, which could not have come at a better time. The border area was affected by the cold front last week, and our staff got to work before it hit distributing those donated blankets to help protect families from the cold. Thank you to all that made this new van and the donations inside of it possible!

Prayer Requests

We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:

  • Omar, who suffered a setback in his recovery this month with an infection in his foot that required surgery. He is in Monterrey with his family and is being monitored through his recovery by his medical team. Continue to pray for his health and wellbeing, as well as for his comfort and peace.
  • Luz, our construction supervisor in Miguel Alemán, who has been undergoing treatment for a difficult health diagnosis. We are happy to report that his treatment has been going well, but we continue to ask for prayers for his healing, as well as peace for him and his family.
  • Families on the border in Mexico who are suffering through these colder weeks of the year. Pray for their safety and protection.
  • The health of our staff, volunteers, Board of Directors, and friends around the world

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

In Case You Missed It

Every year, hundreds of families are impacted by Faith Ministry in one way or another, whether it’s through a new house, medical assistance, an educational scholarship, a grocery package, and more.

This month, we have been introducing you each week to a family that has been impacted by the work we do. Even more so, we hope you see the ways that God has moved and worked in their lives this year.

In His Name and for His Glory, one starfish at at time ❤️
