Celebrating God’s Goodness at Christmas
This month, we hosted six Christmas fiestas in four days in Reynosa, Miguel Alemán and Naranjito! They were a wonderful celebration of the birth of Jesus and a special time of fellowship and festivities. Over 1,000 adults and kids came through our doors for good food, prayer, Christmas carols, soccer balls and candy. We also gave away grocery packages to our volunteers and the families who received homes this year. Above all, we were able to show the love of Jesus to our community and share together in what makes this season truly special. To each and every one of you who supported these fiestas by sending soccer balls, donating funds, or coming down to help, we cannot say thank you enough!
Come to Mexico in 2019!
2019 will be our 25th year of service here on the border in Mexico, and we would love for your team to come and work with us! If you or someone you know is looking for a week-long missions opportunity for their adult, youth or intergenerational group, please get in touch.
Earlier this month, we hosted our late founder Deantin’s church from Brownsville for a one-day weekend build. They helped build the walls of a house they had funded throughout the year, and it was so much fun. If your church is local or within a short driving distance of McAllen and you’d like to come for a day or weekend, we’d love to have you; email Colleen for more information.
Thank You and Muchas Gracias!
From all of us here at Faith Ministry, thank you so much for all of your support throughout 2018! It was a year with wonderful highs and a devastating loss, but God was with us through it all, and we know we are blessed to have every one of you as our friend. Whether it was through donations, encouragement and prayer, or coming down to volunteer with us, your support this year helped make the work we do possible.
We are so excited for 2019, a year that will mark our 25th anniversary of service here on the border in Mexico, and we’re glad to have you along for the ride. On behalf of the Faith Ministry staff, volunteers and Board of Directors, thank you and Happy New Year!
Prayer Requests
We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:
- Benito, our pastor in Miguel Alemán, who is recovering from his stroke last month; he is doing well but will need a lot of help and physical therapy from doctors moving forward. Pray for his strength and for his family as they support him through this.
- Dora, our caretaker in Reynosa, as she continues to recover from her wrist injury earlier this year. Pray for her healing and discretion on steps moving forward.
- The health of our staff, volunteers and the families we work with during this winter; many have already been sick, so pray for everyone’s health and well-being as we experience colder weather.
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
