Back to School

By the end of this month, most students were back to school in Reynosa and Miguel Alemán, and to celebrate, we had back-to-school events in each community. In Reynosa, we hosted two events – one for elementary and junior high students and a second for high school and college students. There were games and prizes, food and drinks, and a service led by our friend Pastor Daniel from Monterrey. Each student made their own keychain and decorated pen, which they got to take home as a reminder that God is with them throughout this new school year. In Miguel Alemán, they shared a delicious meal, heard from Pastor Benito, and enjoyed time together.

We are so excited for and proud of our 194 students who have gone back to school this month or will be returning soon. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor and adding to that number, get in touch with Colleen at colleen@faithministry.org. This program makes a difference!

Vacation Bible School

As part of our spiritual growth program, we hosted two Vacation Bible Schools this month!
The first took place in Naranjito with almost 50 people in attendance, and the theme was all about looking for the truth and finding Jesus. Our explorers had a week of learning, playing, singing, making crafts, and forming friendships. We also invited older women from the community to join us for classes and Bible study during the week. The second VBS was in Reynosa, and the kids had a great time with crafts, games, songs, Scripture, and special prizes. Our staff and our youth and adults volunteers, as always, did an awesome job making everything amazing for the children!

Progress at the Deantin Community Center

Since the roof pour in March, our crew has made some serious progress on the Deantin community center in Naranjito! Coming up, we will be pouring the perimeter sidewalks, finishing painting, and start to lay the tile floor. We are getting closer to opening the center for the community!

Thanks to all of you who have helped to make this dream a reality! If you would like to see the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the community center in October, come visit us for our 30th anniversary fiesta! Get more details here.

Trip to Indianapolis

Our associate director Colleen Hernandez and her husband Cruz had a wonderful and very quick trip to Indianapolis this month! Colleen shared about Faith Ministry at Meridian Street United Methodist Church, and they were able to see lots of ministry friends and make new ones. Thanks to our good friend Ben for hosting and for the invitation!

Colleen and David are always up for travel; we love sharing about Faith Ministry far and wide. Get in touch with us if you’d like us to share at your church or in your community!

Upcoming Travel

David and Colleen will be in Charlotte, North Carolina, next month! Here is the schedule; we will let you know if there are any updates.

Prayer Requests

We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:

  • PRAISE! Yadira, our administrator in Reynosa, had an operation this month that went well, and she has been recovering smoothly.
  • Don José, our gardener, woodworker, and nightguard in Naranjito, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment. Pray for strength for him and his family.
  • Omar, who continues to battle a wide variety of health issues. He remains in Monterrey, and we ask for your continued prayers for his health, wellbeing, and recovery, as well as for his comfort and peace.
  • The health of our staff, volunteers, Board of Directors, and friends around the world

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
Romans 12:12

In Case You Missed It

We have a new spiritual growth intern! Our new intern Montejano graduated in July from the Berea Bible Institute in Monterrey, and he will be working with us in Reynosa this year. While he will be assisting primarily with the spiritual growth program, you might also see him on the job site building houses and hanging out with our mission work groups from the U.S. We are excited to have him here with us!

Thank You!

Thank you for everything you do to support Faith Ministry! We appreciate your donations, your prayers, and your dedication to the ministry.
