Mission Work Groups
This month, we hosted our last summer group and built our last house of the summer! The team that wrapped up our summer season was from Austin, TX, with a couple of new friends from Canada. They built our 18th house of the year, helped with the children’s nutrition program, delivered grocery packages, and reunited with and met old and new friends!
We had an AMAZING summer this year with seven groups with us in Reynosa, who together built 10 houses, and we have an even busier fall season ahead! Plus, we are already starting to schedule teams for 2023, so f you’d like to bring a team, visit our website to learn more, view our calendar for available dates, and email Colleen for more information or to book a week!
Vacation Bible School
Our churches in Reynosa and Naranjito both hosted Vacation Bible School this month, and both were an absolute blast! Each had their own theme with different stations for the kids to learn a Bible lesson, do a craft, and play a game. They enjoyed good food, and we ended the weeks distributing some extra blessings like shoes to the kids. In Naranjito, around 30 to 40 kids came each day, and in Reynosa, the week started with 35 kids and ended with 75! It all would not have been possible without Pastor Carlos and adult and youth members of the congregation who pitched in to make both weeks happen – muchas gracias!
Back to School
Students in Mexico started back to school this week! In Miguel Alemán, our church congregation got the kids ready with school supply kits for each child. This also means that it’s time to start another year of scholarships. This month, the students in our scholarship program came for their first check of the year, and we truly cannot thank our sponsors enough for the blessing they provide these students. The financial support they send makes a difference, but even more, the encouragement and spiritual support they provide is life-changing.
We currently have 182 students in our scholarship program, ranging from kindergarten up through college, and we have several more on our waiting list! If you are interested in becoming a student sponsor, email Colleen.
A Special Partnership
This month, our Board president Nathan came down to see us, and we spent some time with our partners at the Berea Bible Institute in Monterrey. We are so excited about how this partnership has evolved and will keep growing in the coming months and years as we continue to find ways to help one another. One of the ways we connected during this visit was delivering Bibles that were donated to us that can be used for students at Berea Bible Institute as they learn in the classroom and go out into their communities to spread the Gospel. Stay tuned for more ways that we’ll be working together with the Berea student body and staff to continue to make a difference here in northern Mexico. God is good!
A Surprise Visit!
Omar surprised us in Reynosa earlier this month! As you know from previous updates, Omar fell at the end of March and had to have surgery on his knee shortly after. It’s been a long road to recovery, and while he’s not back in Reynosa permanently yet, it was so good to see him and catch up with him. He wanted to share a message for all those who have been praying for him. We ask you to keep praying that his recovery goes well and that he’ll be back for good soon!
Prayer Requests
We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:
- Praise! David’s mom Vicky is doing much better following surgery last month. Continue to pray for her health and strength as she continues to recover.
- Omar, our administrator in Reynosa, who is continuing to heal from a fall, then surgery, earlier this year. Pray for his strength and healing as he forges on in his journey to full recovery.
- Luz, our construction supervisor in Miguel Alemán, who is dealing with health issues. Pray for good news for him and continued peace and good health.
- The health of our staff, volunteers, Board of Directors, and friends around the world
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
