Providing Food to Our Neighbors
After a tough July for Faith Ministry, we kicked off the new month of August by distributing another round of grocery packages in Reynosa and Miguel Alemán. At the end of July, families along the border in Mexico were hit by Hurricane Hanna, so grocery packages were desperately needed. These packages help families relieve the burden of providing food for themselves and their kids, especially with so many losing their jobs, and they allow families to stay home and stay safe during the ongoing pandemic. Thanks to all of your continued support that allows us to take care of our brothers and sisters, we will be able to keep distributing grocery packages like these as the pandemic and other “storms” continue to take their toll on the community.
Hurricane Repairs
As you know, Hurricane Hanna hit McAllen, Reynosa, and Miguel Alemán hard at the end of last month. Our construction staff has been working diligently this month to make repairs and prevent future damage not only at the Faith Ministry facilities, but also at the homes of several of our staff. Some of these ongoing projects include building containment walls to prevent future flooding, fixing drainage pipes, and stuccoing walls to protect against leakage from rain.
We’re so proud of the way our construction staff has stepped up to the plate and been eager to work hard, especially in the wake of losing their supervisor Angel. And we’re thankful to all of you for the support that has allowed us to do these repairs and help our staff through these difficult times.
Thank You for Your Prayers
Last month was difficult for Faith Ministry, and your prayers, love, and support meant so much to us. We cannot thank you enough for the messages, phone calls, and emails we received; they gave us the push we needed to keep going. We share all your kind words and encouragement with our staff in Mexico, and they send love, hugs, and prayers back to all of you.
We have loved finding new ways to connect with all of you during the year, so stay in touch! If you have a group of people (whether it’s your church group who comes down or friends from other places that love Faith Ministry) and would like to set up a Zoom with us, we would love that! Get in touch with Colleen, and we’ll see you there. ?
Prayer Requests
We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:
- Lupe and his family, as they continue to grieve the loss of their three family members, including Angel. Lupe has appreciated all of the prayers and messages of support, so keep them up! Pray for his physical and mental health, as well as strength, comfort, and peace for their family.
- Omar, our administrator in Reynosa, who is doing better with his health, but still needs prayers for continued recovery.
- Students and their parents in Reynosa and Miguel Alemán, as they begin a new school year under very difficult circumstances; pray for their efforts in studying online and through TV and for families who are struggling to provide the necessary resources for their children
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
