Vacation Bible School
Our three churches in Reynosa, Naranjito and Miguel Alemán each held VBS this month for the kids in their communities. In Reynosa and Naranjito, the lessons centered around a construction theme, and the kids learned about values like respect, generosity, solidarity, and more. Members at each church supported Pastor Carlos in hosting between 35 and 50 kids daily in Reynosa and between 40 and 70 kids daily in Naranjito. In Miguel Alemán, the VBS lessons focused on how God came to save us with a fun sheriff/cowboy theme of the kids. Members of the church helped Pastor Benito and his wife Carmen host between 40 and 60 kids each day. All three churches had a fantastic time sharing the love of God with the kids in their communities!
Visit from the Board of Directors
This month, we had a biannual visit from our Board of Directors, a group of people who guide and advise the ministry and our staff. Hurricane Harvey threw a wrench in some of our plans, but the extra time and smaller group of people allowed us to focus intentionally on the ministry’s vision and strategically plan for its future. We also had a great time fellowshipping together over grilled meat at David’s house!
Back to School
This week, children and youth throughout Mexico (and the U.S.) went back to school, including the 160 students in our scholarship program! Even though education is “free” in Mexico, there are many costs like uniforms, books, transportation, food, and more that put a heavy burden on families and make it difficult to send their children to school. We are so proud of each of our students for working hard and putting forth their best efforts in the classroom, and we are grateful to our many sponsors who make that possible! We are especially proud this year of the eight students starting high school and the thirteen students starting college – both major accomplishments for students in our communities of Mexico. Here’s to a great school year!

Prayer Requests
We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:
- Carmen, the wife of Benito, our pastor in Miguel Alemán, who is still dealing with health issues. Please pray for her healing and recovery and for peace for their family.
- Ezequiel, one of our former construction foremen and longest employees, continues to suffer from a number of health issues. Pray for his healing and comfort.
- Our brothers and sisters in Houston and the surrounding areas that have been devastated by Hurricane Harvey. Pray for those affected, the first responders, and those who will join them in recovery efforts in the coming weeks and months.
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
