Our Trip to the Hoosier State

This month, David and Colleen spent ten days in Indianapolis, visiting our church partners there and meeting new friends who want to get involved with Faith Ministry! It was a wonderful trip, and we loved seeing all of our Indy friends in their home state. A huge thanks to all of you who offered us your homes, your time and your resources during our trip!

A Visit from our Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors was down at the border this past weekend, and we had a blast with them! They helped us pour a roof, worked in the garden in Naranjito, and enjoyed a meal of tamales together with our staff and volunteers, in addition to meeting together to discuss plans and goals for the ministry. They are a group of people dedicated to the work of Faith Ministry, and we appreciate everything they do!

“Teaching to Fish”

We are seeing exciting progress with our skills training program! The idea of the of program follows the old saying, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” Through our sewing program, we are teaching members of the community how to create beautiful and useful items for themselves and for others, including school uniforms, skirts, dresses, household linens, and more. This month, we were able to gift each member of our sewing program with their very own sewing machine, thanks to a generous donation. Now, they can practice at home and begin to create even more!

We also “christened” our woodworking shop this month with the creation of our first piece of furniture! A member of our Board of Directors spent a day training some of our staff on the carpentry equipment we have, and side-by-side they made a beautiful, sturdy bunk bed. We are excited to finally have this program off the ground, and we’re looking forward to building more and to teaching others in the community these valuable woodworking skills!

Prayer Requests

We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:

  • Ezequiel, one of our foreman in Reynosa, is slowly getting back to work after his second eye surgery. Continue praying for his healing and overall health.
  • Benigno, or Benny, one of our foremen in Miguel Alemán, is experiencing health issues that give him fatigue and decreased energy. Pray for healing and restoration for Benny and for peace and comfort for his family.
  • Bouts of violence continue to plague the town of Miguel Alemán. Pray for the safety of our community there and for peace throughout the town.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
Romans 12:12
