Progress at the Community Center

Now that the roof is poured (and has dried beautifully!) at the Deantin community center in Naranjtio, we are jumping right in to the next steps. Stuccoing the interior and exterior walls will be the most time-consuming step, so we’ve already got our crew on it!

In case you missed it, we’ve got a time lapse of the whole roof pour on our Facebook page – check it out!

Houses & Roofs

Our staff was busy this month building a house for another family in Reynosa, Casa #6! This one was provided by First Presbyterian Church in Lumberton, NC, who couldn’t make the trip to Mexico this year, but were still able to send funds for a house. They also poured the roof of Casa #2 of this year – one step closer to another family moving into a new home!

If you are interested in either bringing a team to Mexico or providing the funds for a house, get in touch with Colleen.

Staff Health

The health of our staff is of the utmost importance to us and is why we developed our staff health initiative within the last few years. This month, our Reynosa staff had a visit from a local nutritionist, who focused specifically on high blood pressure and how to prevent it, as well as how to control other health indicators like cholesterol levels. Our staff benefits so much from these seminars, and we are thankful to Lic. Rodriguez for sharing with us!

Visit to Miguel Alemán

This month, our executive director David had the chance to visit our staff in Miguel Alemán. As you may know, Miguel Alemán has been through difficulties in the last few years with instability and violence, but we are committed to maintaining our programs there, including delivering grocery packages, providing meals for children, and offering spiritual support to the community. We appreciate your prayers for Miguel Alemán, our staff there, and the families we work with!

Beyond the Building

In conjunction with the roof pour this month, we launched a fundraising campaign to take us beyond just the building! As we continue finishing up the Deantin community center, you can help us to provide the resources necessary to run programs out of the community center and our other facilities, such as children’s nutrition, infant formula, music lessons, medical screenings, sewing classes, and more.

Prayer Requests

We believe in the power of prayer, so please join us in praying for:

  • Dr. Joaquin, our former doctor in Reynosa, who is going through difficult health issues. Pray for his healing and peace.
  • Don José, our gardener, woodworker, and nightguard in Naranjito, who continues finding the treatment plan for his health issues. Pray for guidance and comfort for him and his family.
  • Omar, who continues to battle a wide variety of health issues. He remains in Monterrey, and we ask for your continued prayers for his health, wellbeing, and recovery, as well as for his comfort and peace.
  • The health of our staff, volunteers, Board of Directors, and friends around the world

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
