Things are a little more peaceful in Reynosa following outbreaks of violence the first of the year, and we’ve managed to build five houses there so far this year.

While the Board of Directors has stopped team visits there through May, that’s still ahead of the busy summer construction season. The Board will re-evaluate the situation by May 4 to ensure visits are as safe as possible. We may have to hold off in Miguel Alemán a little longer. Executive Director David Rodriguez wrote the following letter:

Dear Faith Ministry Supporter,

Because of what we hope is only a short season of violence in the border region of Mexico, the Faith Ministry Board of Directors has shut down house building efforts in Miguel Alemán and Reynosa for the next few months. Because work team revenue helps fund other Faith Ministry programs, such as our clinics and pastors’ salaries, this has taken a tremendous financial toll on the organization.

We are monitoring the situation daily and reorganizing where we can to ensure our staff continues building where possible and continues its work in the clinics and churches, but we need additional support from those who love the ministry and the Mexican families it serves. Would you consider helping financially even more than you already have?

While we hope things improve quickly, we think it prudent to take action now to protect our ongoing work and ensure we can quickly resume house building when conditions improve.

Faith Ministry workers like you have built more than 2,000 houses, two medical facilities and three churches. The organization we’re all a part of is poised to continue accomplishing even more among people who need us badly.

We acknowledge that we must work faithfully and operate in faith.

If you are able, would you send a check now, and if you’re not already contributing monthly, would you consider that?

Thank you for your part as we work among the “poorest of the poor.”
