Dear Friends of Faith Ministry,
The staff and board of directors of Faith Ministry are at this time cautiously optimistic concerning the situation of violence in Reynosa, Mexico. Quieter, calmer days have been confirmed through continuous monitoring of news reports, staying in contact with residents of Reynosa, reports and observations from the staff who reside there and those who visit several times weekly. Incidents of violence are at this time a little less than in the past month. At the board of director’s meeting on June 8, the following decision was made: A small number of select groups will be allowed to come to Reynosa in July with these assumptions: that there is a good ratio of adults to youth in the group, that their trip is contingent upon conditions remaining relatively calm in June, and that there may be events occurring in June or July that would require Faith Ministry to keep the group in Texas and not let them go into Mexico. The temporary hold on mission work group operations in Miguel Aleman remains in effect. As always, the safety of the staff and the mission work groups are top priority. The board of directors and staff continue to monitor events and will keep you informed. Brothers and sisters in Christ, we are grateful to you for your support, prayers, and understanding during this time of uncertainty. Together, our faith and trust in the Lord will see us through. “For all we need is faith working through love….” Gal. 5:6 If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Executive Director David Rodriquez at (956) 631-3567 or me at (910) 739-4061 or rsmills@nc.rr.com. Peace & blessings,
Renie Mills President, Faith Ministry Board of Directors |
